Belarus, placed in the heart of Europe, is often recognised as "the last dictatorship" on our continent.  Unfortunately after seventy years of Communist rule and fourteen years of left wing populism Belarusians are suffering from the authoritarian regime. Official statistics confess to sixty thousand abortions annually (the population of Belarus is about ten million); seven hundred twenty one marriages end in divorce; thirty per cent of male population are alcoholically dependent; only thirty seven per cent of Belarusians speak Belarusian in their every day life. We may say that a whole European nation is under fear of extinction.

These are the reasons why a strong Christian political movement rose in 2005 in Belarus together with the protests against the dictatorship. This movement is the Belarusian Christian Democracy (BCD).

Very soon BCD is coming together to implement a third attempt for legalisation - but now by organizing a big BCD Founding Congress where more than 1000 people.

This international conference on Christian Democracy will take place in Minsk 27.02-01.03.2009. The previous attempts were declined by the Belarusian registering authorities
