Interview with Vladimir Plamadeala

Name              : Vladimir Plamadeala
Year of birth     : 1977
Country           : Moldova
Civil state        : Single
Employment   : Executive Director, Operation Mobilization Foundation Moldova
Political party  : Christian Democratic People’s Party of Moldova

1. How did you get involved in politics?

I started to provide legal support and foreign policy consultancy to politicians as I realized in Moldova it is important to be politically active.  Moldova is one of the poorest and internationally isolated countries in Europe. Its political class is largely mistrusted by people for lack of moral principles. Being politically active is the way to change this situation.

2. What is your role in your party?

Foreign relations’ advisor to the Party.

3. What is your vision on Europe?

A borderless and decentralized union of sovereign states. I believe in Europe that belongs to people and not to bureaucrats. Numerous examples from history show that United Europe will succeed only if it is built from grass-roots and all member-states’ voices are listened to and respected.

4. Why did you party become a member of ECPM? What binds members together?

The Christian-Democratic doctrine with its social expression and tolerance is a natural facet of European historic context and a potential cure for its present problems. This belief unites people who are working for the promotion of Christian-Democratic principles in Moldova. The ECPM membership occurred as logical step after realization of the necessity to unify all Christian-Democratic forces from the European continent.

5. What are your hobbies?

Photography, tennis, swimming.

6. Is there a Bible passage that has got your heart?

John 3:16 – also mini-gospel in one sentence. For its brevity and universal relevance.

7. What or who annoys you? Please explain.

Exceeding political correctness. While necessary in reasonable proportions, political correctness reminds me of communist censorship when it becomes of such nature as to inhibit open and civilized debate.

8. By what or who do you get inspired? Why?

Jesus Christ. To follow Him implies to be inspired by Him.
