The ChristenUnie presented the manifesto ‘Duurzaam voor elkaar’ (For a Sustainable and Relational Society). In the manifesto for the upcoming national elections the party focuses on the family and invests in a sustainable society.

3 billion for participation on the labour market

With 1 billion investment the ChristenUnie is putting its efforts strongly in at children, families and education. Schoolbooks in the secondary education become free (for example). Besides that the party invests in better possibilities at the labour market for young people, 50+ labourers, long-time jobless and handicapped. Labour should be attractive also if wages are relatively low. Besides these efforts; 1 billion is put in a sustainable society.

To reduce the decline in purchasing power when getting children, an investment is needed of nearly 700 million. Child benefit needs to rise and parents are allowed absolute freedom of choice for children’s day care or caring themselves for children by the child-bound budget. The child-bound budget leaves the parents free in the way the children are taken care for or are raised. One-parent families will receive an extra tax-reduction. Together with measures like free schoolbooks the total purchasing power for families can rise with 700 million.

Starting point for this election program is that people come to their right in relation with other people. People should never be shut out; that is our motivation to invest in opportunities at the labour market for everyone. This motivates us also to resist a pure commercial approach of the health services. 

The ChristenUnie wants a responsible treatment of our environment and energy resources. Therefore the party invests in its program 1 billion euro in sustainable energy, public transport, sustainable agriculture and fishery. The tax-system should be ‘greener’ by taking measures like the ‘packing tax’.

The government missed opportunities

In the past four years much attention is paid to reforms of the health system and the social security. The ChristenUnie acknowledges that there was need for measures on this fields. But the market forces should never be dominant in the health services and cuts in social security may not lead to the situation that people become dependent of ‘food-banks’.

Vulnerable groups like elderly people, chronic sick and handicapped are brought into trouble. Therefore these groups need a compensation of 300 million for the risen care-contribution and the party advocates the abolishment of the discriminating no-claim-reduction.

The Old Age Pensions (AOW)     

The AOW remains to be bound to the salaries-development. To make it possible to maintain the AOW it’s necessary to go on with the already started fiscalisation.  The AOW age can remain 65.

The ChristenUnie reduces taxes and invests 11 billion euro in it’s program and on the other hand we save 12,5 billion. The result is used to reduce the state-debt. The purchasing power increases with 2 billion and the tax-load of companies is reduced with 0,5 billion.
