'Alliance for Sweden' replaces social-democrat government
Wednesday 20 September 2006 12:50 The broad centre-right coalition 'Alliance for Sweden' - together with the Christian Democrats, the Center Party and the Liberal Party won last sunday the elections for the Swedisch national parliament, the 'Riksdag'.
As a result, the 'Alliance for Sweden' will replace the social-democrat government. This political shift is rare in Swedish political life due to the dominant position of the social-democratic party.
The Christian-democrat party 'Kristdemokraterna' under leadership of Göran Hägglund maintained a key place in Swedish parliament with 24 seats. As part of the 'Alliance for Sweden', the Christian-democrats will be part of the new Swedish government.
