ChristianUnion in coalition talks to form a new government
Monday 15 January 2007 11:21 The Dutch ChristianUnion party is one of the three parties who are right now talking about forming the new Dutch government. The parliamentary leader of the ChristianUnion, Andre Rouvoet is at this moment in discussion on several issues with Jan Peter Balkenende, leader of the CDA (Christian-Democrats) and Wouter Bos, leader of the PvdA (Labour Party). The three parties are very optimistic that the formation talks will lead to a new government.
If the formation talks would succeed, than this will be a historic moment for the ChristianUnion. For the first time in its existence as a political party, the ChristianUnion will then be part of the Dutch government.
Also very encouraging is the fact that the Netherlands, for the first time in decades, would be ruled again by a Christian oriented government. In fact, one could say that a coalition between CDA, PvdA and ChristenUnion would truly be a Christian-social government!
Furthermore, there have been several surveys held under the members of the ChristianUnion and about 90% of all members supports the party in taking part in the new government.
