Mixed electoral results Swiss ECPM members
Thursday 25 October 2007 15:55 Both EVP and EDU were able to gain votes in the highly polarised Swiss national elections. However, due to the electoral system both parties lost one seat in parliament.
Elections were dominated by the negative campaigning of the right-wing populist SVP who also won the elections. In these circumstances is the gain in votes of both EDU and EVP a promising sign for the future of Christian-social politics in Switzerland. EVP and EDU co-operated in various cantons and will continue this co-operation in parliament.
The ECPM congratulates both parties with the increase of votes and wishes both parties strenght and succes with the new parliamentary situation due to the electoral system.
