Three international political working groups were initiated in Risan, concerning the following topics:
Some twenty of about fifty participants in the summer school immediately committed to joining one of these working groups and others are expected to join in the coming weeks. People who were not at the summer school are hereby also invited to join the working groups.
Newly elected political secretary of ECPYN, Nutsa Shavladze from Georgia and secretary general Jonathan van Tongeren from the Netherlands are currently setting up the practical side of the working groups, while the concept is allready quire clear.
"With these working groups we intend to provide a platform for more in-depth discussion of some very important topics. We trust that the active involvement of inspired and competent young Christians in these new groups, will help them to come to a better understanding of the core issues at stake and will at the same time result in some policy documents that are well thought through and in effective actions to influence politics. With these working groups we hope to serve ECPM and ECPYN and the furtherance of Christian Democracy together with its social expression in all of Europe" says a visibly enthusiastic Jonathan van Tongeren.
