ECPM expresses solidarity with Belarusian opposition

After the elections of March 19 ECPM expresses solidarity with the Belarusian people fighting for their freedom and calls upon the Belarusian authorities to immediately release all people detained due to their political activities. ECPM protests against the verdict to leaders of ECPM partner YCSU and expresses solidarity and sympathy to him as to another victims of the regime.

Respect for freedom of speech is absolute essential for free and fair elections. There can be no authoritarian regime in modern Europe. ECPM wants the people of Belarus to have democratic and political rights, says Peeter Vosu, chairman of ECPM.
