ChristenUnie stable factor in extremely volatile political landscape

2010 Campagnetour Zeeland 9(2)Thursday 10 June 2010 14:20

The ChristenUnie, one of the ECPM memberparties, lost one of its 6 seats in the last parliamentary elections. Although it is a slightly disappointing result, the ChristenUnie did clearly better than the other two governing parties in an extremely volatile political landscape. 66 of the 150 seats in parliament changed hands and there were big changes on the left and on the right, a clear showing that many voters in the Netherlands now very easily change their party preference from the one to the other side of the political spectrum. In these circumstances the ChristenUnie kept the vast majority of its voters and proved to be a stable factor in the Dutch parliament.
