More than 100 Christian-democratic politicians from 28 countries gathered at the 2nd ECPM congress Vision for Christian-democracy in Europe, which was held in the European Parliament in Brussels on 6 and 7 December 2006.
The delegates have adopted a vision
document a
Christian-social contribution to Europe. This manifesto
will not only serve as a new ECPM basic program, but also as
a guideline for revitalization of Christian-social thinking in
Europe. The document focuses on issues like the task of the government,
environment and social justice. The document has been adopted as a
base for Christian-social thought and will be critically read and
revised in the coming years. This in order to create a more
concrete and pragmatic guideline for Christian-social
government.
In the past few years the European Christian Political
Movement has been working to strengthen Christian-democrat
politics at all different political levels in Europe . Through
conferences, publications and many other ways of
interaction. The movement will continue to grow in 2007 when
activities will be grouped in three different regions:
Western-Europe, the Baltics and South-Eastern Europe. For all these
groups there was an opportunity to discuss their own regional
issues and to think about more cooperation in their
region.
Also the Romanian Partidul Naţional Ţărănesc Creştin Democrat was welcomed as new member of the association.
