Reflection Report
Amersfoort, 19 June 2007
Dear readers,
As the most of you know, the European Christian Political Movement organized in close cooperation with the Lithuanian Christian Democrats (LKD) a conference about Christian Democracy: Vision and Communication on 15 and 16 June. I am happy to announce it was a very good and blessed conference. We were able to discuss and to exchange experiences of the campaigning processes and of the profiling of a Christian political party. It was really interesting to listen to eachothers' stories during these two wonderful days.
We started on Friday morning with a lecture of Paulius Saudargas (Lithuanian Christian Democrats) about the positioning of Christian-democracy in the Cartesian coordinate system of political ideologies. The PowerPoint of this lecture will be available on this website soon. An other workshop of him in cooperation with Johannes de Jong (ChristianUnion, NL) was about local campaigning.
Merja Eräpolku (Finnish Christian Democrats) taught us about the distinct features of Christian-democracy. Also this lecture will be available on the website soon. The husband of Merja Eräpolku, Esa Erävalo (FKD) gave us a lecture about campaigning at the national level.
Dr Scott Lively (NGO Defend the Family Int.) from the United States was able to teach us about the family as a key-issue of Christian-democracy.
Henk van Rhee (party director and campaign manager CU) gave us interesting lectures about Christian-democrat spearheads in electoral campaigns and about the role of the media in campaigning. These two PowerPoints will also be available on this website soon.
It was great to meet so many people from all different countries and parties with all different histories and experiences. We are looking forward meeting you again. That is why the ECPM would like to invite you to the coming annual ECPM congress on the 20th and 21st of September in Brussels. More information about this congress will be supplied in the coming months.
In Christ,
